The Acai


The Acai berry is a rich purpled colored fruit that grows on the acai palm trees, whose scientific name is Euterpe oleracea.

It is cultivated not only in the Amazon region, but in other Brazilian states, being introduced in the national market during the 1980´s.


In Brazil, the state of Pará is the largest producer of acai, accounting for more than 85% of the worldwide production. Nowadays, acai is highly consumed in various regions of Brazil and the world.
